32 shooters from Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, Ohio, Minnesota and Missouri were on hand Sept. 10-11th to contest the IBS WI. State Two Gun Score Championship. This was also the first annual Roy Oines Memorial event, named in honor of the late Roy Oines from nearby Holmen, Wisconsin. Roy was a prime mover in the club and devoted much time to Benchrest and other shooting sports. This also marked the first registered match at the newly renovated Holmen range. Two years were spent flattening the range, moving untold amounts of dirt and sand and adding more benches. The days of the 16 foot tall flag poles at 100 yards and 2 foot tall poles at 200, though fondly remembered by all who have ever shot at this nice facility, are now history.
Saturday was the Hunter and Varmint Hunter guns at 100 and 200 yds. Light winds and tricky mirage was the order of the day. Chad Schmidt's 497-20X HBR Grand win was a portent of things to come for the weekend.

The 6 Power guns were left in their cases on Sunday, as Varmint For Score at 100 and 200 yards was the order of the day. Ohio strongman Randy Perkowski raises some eyebrows with his stout 250-23X win at 100, as such high 'X' counts are rare in this part of the country.

The prestigious Two Gun Score Championship was won by the always strong shooting Chad Schmidt. Chad shot like a man with a purpose on his way to a convincing 6 point win over the field. Both his rifles were chambered by Roy Oines.

David Halblom of Flying Fish Fundamentals sponsored a very nice traveling trophy with Roy's likeness on it, complete with brass plaques for each year’s winner of the Two Gun. Thank you, David! Roy's family was on hand for the award ceremony, with his granddaughter and grandson passing out the awards to the shooters. They left with fond memories of Roy's friends gathering together to honor him. And shooters from all over the region look forward to the next event and a chance to get their name on the traveling trophy!
