200 -300 National Championship Match
July 31- August 1 , 2010

The winners Eddie Harren (Varmint Hunter), Shaun Shank (VFS), Gary Long (Hunter).

It was a nice weekend for shoot weather wise, with warm temperatures but not completely ugly humidity like the weekend before. There was a prediction of a high percentage chance of rain for Sunday but the rain never made it. Turnout was somewhat low which I consider was likely caused both by the continuing economic status we find ourselves in and the 90 to 100 degree heat wave we have been in for several weeks although miraculously the heat has dipped 10-15 degrees on many weekends.

Saturday Wayne France took the lead in VFS class finishing with 250-13x followed closely by Allie Euber with 250-11x and Hal Drake with 250-4x these were the only 250’s at 200 yards. In Varmint Hunter class Ed Harren with a 247-7x edged out his wife Sara with 246-5x. In Hunter Class at 200 Gary Long with 246-7x was 1st with Dean Breeden second with 245-9. There were 37 total shooters Saturday.

Sunday was another matter, Assistant Range Officer Curtis Nelson recovered from a less than stellar performance Saturday laid down a 250-5x score in VFS, the only 250 turned in at 300 yards. Once again Allie Euber came in 2nd with a score of 249-5x, local Rookie shooter Shaun Shank was third also with 250-5x. Once again Eddie and Sara Harren duked it out in VH class with Eddie scoring 248-3x and Sara having a 243-2x. In Hunter class Dean Breeden with 244-3x edged out Gary Long (244-1x)

The Grand Aggregate final standings were quite interesting, neither of the VFS yardage winners made the top 10 in the other yardage hence finished 8th and 10th in the grand. Now if you have been reading closely you saw that “Hall of Fame “ shooter Allie Euber finished 2nd at both yardages this would lead you to believe Allie won the Grand but I have not yet discussed one relevant piece of data Allies second place finish was with his Light Varmint Rifle at 200 and his Heavy at 300 (or maybe it was the other way around) at any rate he accumulated scores of 497-15x and 497-14x which gave him both 3rd and 4th in the VFS Grand. Shaun Shank with an 8th place finish at 200 followed by a 3rd at 300 won the VFS Grand with 498-12x and is the new 200-300 National Champion. Local Favorite Kim Llewellyn lost it by one bad shot on the final target. Her total of 497-18x put her firmly in 2nd place. VH class is much easier to figure as Eddie won both yardages his combined score of 495-10x beat Sara’s 489-7x and Dave Thomas was 3rd with 486-5x. Gary Long was 1st in Hunter class with 490-8x Dean Breeden was 2nd with 489-12x, David Apple was 3rd 481-6x.

Thanks to everybody who came and we all had hope a good time.
