Bell City Rifle Club

Southington Connecticut

9 October. 2010

For our last match of the season the wind machine was on "Switch" with nary a condition lasting more than 20-30 seconds before it would change direction and the flags show full value in the opposite direction. Ron Mattson in the VFS class was the only shooter able to tame the conditions and stay clean with his new 30br while the rest of the field ate ever increasingly large pieces of humble pie. Rich Suhie put in one of his best showings of the year and took second in the VFS class and Brian Fitch took a well earned third place.
In the custom class Joe Hecht once again showed what a savage is capable of by taking first place and Vince Staskiewicz took fist place in the factory class. Yours truly was quite happy to unload one of the Varmint Hunter trophies purchased for the year to Clark Shen who was without his bride today (visiting grandchildren) and who shot well in the difficult conditions. The Hen House Bar-B-Que catered the final shoot of the year and, despite a small overestimation in the amount of food needed for the match (read double what was needed!), there was not an empty stomach leaving the range and a good time was had by all.
It has been an honor to shoot with these fine gentlemen (perhaps a strong word for some, but this is a family website) through the year and it was truly a pleasure to put the matches together for everyone's enjoyment. We will do it all over again next year, and we are already looking forward to getting humbled, again, by this great sport.

Thanks,
Mike Suhie
