The 15 th Bud Pryor Memorial match was held at Thurmont Conservation and sportsmans club in Thurmont Md. Friday, Saturday and Sunday June 12, 13, and 14. Attendance was down most likely due to the current economic situation we find ourselves in. Still 52 Benchrest shooters from as far away as Maine, Iowa and South Carolina found their way to Thurmont for what is fast becoming the Premier Score shooting event of the season. David Halblom Sr. of Flying Fish Fundamentals as in previous years not only sponsored the Two Gun competition with a nice Traveling Trophy and a cash award but provided a Friday night cookout with great food and company for those who stuck around.

Shooting at 100 yards commenced at 11 am Friday with Dean Breeden shooting his Light Varmint 30 cal rifle (yes people do shoot LV 30's) taking the early lead with 250-22x in Varmint for Score class. Saturdays 200yard match found Jim Wooten at the top of the VFS pile (36 Guns) with a possible new IBS record of 250-19x. Meanwhile Sara Harren was dominating in Varmint Hunter class with a 497-22x putting her in front of Husband Eddie Harren by exactly one point.   There were six shooters in Varmint Hunter class. In Hunter class Gary Long led the eight shooters in that class by with a 496-15x .

Saturday night everybody gathered at the Thurmont club house for a BBQ dinner with all the fixing including Sara Harrens special cheese grits.

Sunday started the grueling 300 yard portion of the Marathon. Weather all weekend was very cooperative and we never experienced more than a few raindrops. Temperatures even were somewhat more moderate than sometimes happens at this event staying in the high 70's and 80's. Although wind was more cooperative than sometimes is the case at Thurmont no potential 300 yard records were set. Wayne France won the VFS 300yd. with 249-9x bestingHal Drake by one x But Hal Won the 100-200-300 Grand with a 749-43x besting Wayne by 14x.   Gary Long with a 739-21x won Hunter by a substantial margin. Sara Harren Continued to dominate Varmint Hunter with a 741-28x soundly thrashing husband Eddie who was second but several points behind her. Dr. Bill from Vermont won the Flying Fish 2 Gun with a 1476 - 46x score.

I believe everyone had a good time and Thurmont club thanks all the competitors who traveled long distances to make it to the "BUD". We will see you all at the 16 th Bud the second week of June next year.
