IBS 600 YARD SHOOTER OF THE YEAR PROGRAM FOR 2012 (unchanged from 2009)
The IBS 600 yd. SOY Program will be as follows:
IBS 600 yard Shooter of the Year (SOY) honors will be based solely on
the points accumulated at 5 sanctioned IBS 600 yard matches per IBS 600 yard
Club per year, these matches are to be determined by the respective Club and
submitted to the IBS with their match contract. There is no limit as to the
number of Clubs a Shooter may accumulate SOY points at, as long as they are the
5 matches per Club mentioned above, during the calendar year. The total matches
a shooter may use to accumulate Shooter of the Year points will be further
limited to the 14 matches at which they earned the most SOY points from the
above 5 matches per Club plus the National Championships. A match for SOY will consist
of either/or Light Gun and Heavy Gun.
Matches held after November 15th will not be counted in the 600 SOY program,
but will count in the next years SOY total.
Points would be awarded for Light
Gun, Heavy Gun – score and group only. . A shooter is defined as a person who has paid the entry fee and filled
out and signed the registration form, a copy of which is to be sent to the IBS
after each Match. To be counted in the total shooters for match points, the
shooter must be sitting at the bench they were assigned when the “commence fire
command” is given.
Points would be awarded on a scale based on attendance. Points for 2nd place would be one point less than first. 3rd place would be 2 points less than 1st and continue until all points awarded based on the total number of points for 1st place.
Points for the National Championship would double in value.
The IBS Precision Rifleman/ woman program would not change
It is the responsibility of the individual 600 yard Clubs to submit a schedule of points awarded to each shooter per match for SOY to the Long Range Committee on a monthly basis. The Long Range Committee will designate one individual to be Keeper of the Points who will submit a report of results to all shooters periodically during the year.
Shooter of the Year awards for the Top Female, Rookie and Junior will also be based on the above mentioned point system. A junior shooter is one that has not attained the age of 18.. A Rookie shooter is considered to be any new shooter who is in their first two calendar years of Benchrest competition. (New shooter means new to Benchrest- any participation in registered BR matches of any type in NBRSA, Williamsport or IBS would constitute that the person had shot Benchrest.
Shooter of the year Points for setting IBS records will be:
Light / Heavy Gun
Group 6 points
Score 6 points
Group aggregate 6 points
Score aggregate 6 points
Two Gun
Score 6 points
Group 6 points
SOY points for breaking a single target and match
aggregate record will be awarded sequentially each time the new record is set.
If a single target record or match aggregate is broken by two or more shooters
on the same date then the record would go to the smallest group and highest
score shot on that date.
Note - See winter meeting proposal # 3 for world records set at 600 yd Nationals. Record Targets must be shot at a sanctioned IBS match during the year and shot by a IBS member or a Card-carrying affiliate member.
